Mahindra to launch Verito Notchback named Vibe next month......
The Verito Vibe will come with the same frugal 1.5L dCi Diesel engine and driveline as on the Verito (sourced from Renault).
Mahindra is expected to price the Vibe notchback competitively (around Rs 6 Lakh) as a result the lower excise duty of 12 % that it attracts, since it is less than 4 metres in length. A petrol engine option is not expected to be available at launch.
Mahindra's new offering will face competition from Maruti's Dzire, Tata's Indigo eCS and Honda's newly launched Amaze. The competent but blandly styled Verito has been managing sales of slightly over 1000 units on an average over the last 6 months (1211 units sold last month). In comparison, Maruti sold just over 20,000 units of the Dzire last month.
Developing a sub 4 metre notchback on the Verito platform will also enable Mahindra to benefit from a common platform which results in lower costs. Mahindra had already spent approximately Rs 50 crore earlier on the facelifted Verito launched last year.
Name of the model vibe itself suggest that they are targeting texi market of india.
